Yesterday evening, March 5, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs opened booking for one AirBaltic special flight to from Dubai to Tallinn, and this morning, March 6, booking for a FlyDubai special flight from Dubai to Riga. Families with at least three children and people with health problems were given the opportunity to register for the flights first. We plan to open booking for the next flights today and will also inform citizens currently on location in Dubai.
“At the moment, large families and citizens with serious health concerns have received booking links for the special flights from Dubai to Tallinn and from Dubai to Riga, but we are working on planning the next flights. At least two more flights are expected in the coming days, and we will soon open booking for those to other citizens as well,” said Foreign Minister Tsahkna. “I want to emphasise that if you have not yet been able to secure seats on these flights, please do not worry. We will continue organising flights and will not leave a single Estonian behind.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs asks those who currently have airline tickets that have not been cancelled by the airline operating the regular flight not to cancel them themselves. “People who are able to return home using currently operating regular flights and who already have tickets should make use of that opportunity. I understand that there are currently few such flights.”
“We are also in constant contact with our European colleagues and, where possible, we coordinate places for our people on other countries’ special flights as well,” Tsahkna said.
“Several Estonian citizens have already reached Europe in this way.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also asks that people who have received a seat on a special flight keep in mind that these flight tickets cannot be changed.
All Estonian citizens in the Middle East region are requested to register their short-term stay on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
