On 12 May, Foreign Ministry’s Secretary General Jonatan Vseviov was on a working visit to Brussels, meeting with high-ranking officials of the European Union institutions and Belgium. Discussions focused on security in Europe and Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Secretary General Vseviov met with Theodora Genzis, Secretary General of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Stefano Grassi, Deputy Secretary General of the European Commission; Elisabetta Belloni, Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen; Pedro Lourtie, Head of Cabinet of the President of the European Council Antonio Costa, and Belen Martinez Carbonelli, Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS).
The main topics of the meetings included the preparations for the 17th package of sanctions, the use of the frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank for the benefit of Ukraine, as well as EU enlargement and strengthening defence readiness.
From Brussels, Vseviov will head to Vienna, where he will open the Estonian Presidency of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation (FSC). From April to September, Estonia holds the chairmanship of the OSCE forum dealing with the organisation’s military-political dimension.
