On 27–28 October, Secretary General of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jonatan Vseviov, hosted the Permanent Secretary of State of Iceland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Martin Eyjólfsson, in Tartu.
Their discussions focused on continued support for Ukraine. The two sides explored ways to increase the cost of Russia’s aggression, including through additional sanctions, and measures to counter the activities of Russia’s shadow fleet. They also discussed strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation within the NB8 format.
The secretaries general visited the University of Tartu, where they held a joint discussion on Iceland–Estonia relations. They also toured sights in South Estonia and visited the Estonian–Russian border in Vinski, Võru County.
