Foreign Ministry briefs companies on opportunities and risks on Gulf States markets

Yesterday 31 October, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organised a seminar on the markets of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. During the seminar, Estonian companies were briefed on the target markets and entry to these markets.

The seminar was aimed at companies interested in taking their products or services to Emirati, Qatari or Saudi Arabian markets. The programme included presentations and discussions on the opportunities and risks of operating on these markets.

Priit Kallakas, Director General of the Economic Diplomacy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Estonian companies had a great interest in the markets of the Gulf States. The export strategies for UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia published yesterday give companies a better understanding of the peculiarities and opportunities of specific sectors in these markets.

“The Gulf States are one of the most rapidly growing economic regions of the world, where the focus is on innovation, green transition, and social reform. This provides opportunities for many Estonian companies,” Kallakas said. “Above all, we see potential in the information technology, green energy, food and maritime sectors and we are working actively with the Estonian Business and Innovation Agency to support the operations of Estonian companies in the Gulf States,” Kallakas added.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has prepared strategies for Gulf States (UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar) to support Estonian companies in entering and operating on these markets. The strategies are available here: Export Strategies | Ministry of Foreign Affairs
