Estonian Ambassador to Denmark Andre Pung handed over the Letters of Credence to His Majesty Frederik X, the King of Denmark, on September 19, 2024.

In the conversation following the handover of the Letters of Credence, His Majesty and Ambassador Pung talked about the bilateral relations between Estonia and Denmark, the cooperation between the Nordic-Baltic countries and also the support of Ukraine in the ongoing war of aggression. “Considering the population, both Estonia and Denmark are the biggest contributors to strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, and we must do everything we can to convince other like-minded countries to support Ukraine even more,” said Ambassador Pung.

His Majesty and Ambassador Pung also discussed economic cooperation between the two countries in the development and use of environmentally friendly technologies, in which Denmark is one of the leading countries in the world. Opportunities for research cooperation and cooperation between defense industry companies were also discussed. Ambassador Pung also invited His Majesty Frederik X to visit Estonia.

Next year, Denmark will chair the cooperation format of the Nordic-Baltic countries, will start work as an elected member of the UN Security Council, and in the second half of the year will hold the presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Andre Pung was the director of the Western Europe Office of the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Previously, he has worked as an ambassador to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, as an ambassador in Ireland, as a general consul in St. Petersburg and as an economic officer in Riga. Pung has also worked as the Director General of the Department of Foreign Economy and Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics of Tallinn University of Technology.
