Today 22 April, the Estonian-Indonesia Business Forum was held in Jakarta, aimed at strengthening economic relations between the two countries. The event brought together high-level government officials, businesses and experts from both countries. It was organised by the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), who also signed a cooperation agreement.
The head of the business delegation, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, said that Estonian companies have a lot of untapped potential in the large Indonesian market. “Indonesia, with a population of almost 300 million, is a strong player not only in Southeast Asia, but also globally. We see the best business opportunities in the areas of ICT, cyber security, defence and food, and maritime affairs,” the minister said.
He added that Estonia also offers a secure business environment with digital conveniences to Indonesian companies who are looking for opportunities to expand into the European Union market.
Dipperfox, an Estonian producer of stump grinders, is also participating in the business delegation, as various Asian markets have been on their radar for a long time. “Our current largest global export market is Japan, but we also operate in Malaysia and Taiwan, and we are also interested in Indonesia,” Vallo Visnapuu, the company’s export manager, said.
They see market opportunities both in the urban environment, for example when removing stumps of damaged trees, and in various plantations. “There is definitely no shortage of stumps in Indonesia – it is up to us to show that we are reliable actors and that the machine we have created really works. For this, we have meetings with a number of potential partners and local distributors as part of the visit,” Visnapuu said, explaining the aims of participating in the visit.
The Estonian business delegation also includes representatives of various sectors. Cybernetica focuses on cybersecurity and digital management solutions for the public sector, 5.0 ROBOTICS specialises in cutting-edge production technologies, A. Le Coq produces a wide range of drinks for both the local and international markets, Miltton CIO World organises world-class events, and Fiesta Reisid OÜ is a tour operator with more than 30 years of experience.
At the forum, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the chambers of commerce and industry of Indonesia and Estonia, with the aim of promoting trade relations, exchanging market information, organising networking events and creating partnership opportunities between Estonian and Indonesian companies.
