Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary General Jonatan Vseviov visits Lithuania

On 21 November, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jonatan Vseviov was on a visit to Lithuania, where he met with Audra Plepytė, Lithuania’s Vice‑Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Asta Skaisgirytė, Foreign Policy Adviser to the President of Lithuania. He also took part in a panel discussion at the annual conference of the Geopolitics and Security Studies Center (GSSC) titled ‘How to deal with threats below the NATO Article 5 threshold?’

The meetings addressed continued support for Ukraine and the issue of Ukraine’s peace plan. Vseviov underlined Estonia’s consistent position that the only path to a just and lasting peace in Ukraine lies in exerting pressure on the aggressor and supporting the victim, and that swift and decisive steps are needed to mobilise Russia’s frozen assets. The discussions also focused on transatlantic relations and eastern border defence readiness.

In the panel discussion at the GSSC’s annual conference, Vseviov concentrated on NATO deterrence, challenges, and response readiness.
