Today, 12 May, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jonatan Vseviov met in Tallinn with a delegation from the German-Baltic Parliamentary Friendship Group of the German Bundestag, led by the Chair of the Friendship Group, Bettina Hagedorn.
The meeting focused primarily on continued support for Ukraine and issues related to European security, including hybrid threats. Opportunities for cooperation within the extended Nordic-Baltic format (NB8++) were also discussed.
The Secretary General expressed appreciation for Germany’s contribution to strengthening NATO’s eastern flank and for its leading role in developing Europe’s defence capabilities. Vseviov stressed that, in order to ensure Europe’s security, the European Union must keep its door open to Ukraine and move forward with accession negotiations. It is equally important to continue providing Ukraine with consistent military and economic support.
The Secretary General also underlined the need to intensify pressure on Russia through political and economic sanctions, as well as by countering the activities of the shadow fleet.
