Speaking with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today, 7 July, on the sidelines of the NATO Summit, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said that preparations for the Ukraine Recovery Conference,
to be held in Tallinn on 28–29 January 2027, are already under way. Tsahkna also met President Zelenskyy during the signing of the drone agreement between Estonia and Ukraine.
“Since 2022, Estonia has consistently contributed to Ukraine’s reconstruction through hundreds of projects, involving a wide range of international partners and donors,” Tsahkna stressed. “Entrusting Estonia with hosting the Recovery Conference is a clear recognition of our role as a steadfast and consistent supporter of Ukraine.”
“Ukraine’s reconstruction is the largest economic project in 21st-century Europe. Its objective is not only to help Ukraine recover from the devastating consequences of Russia’s aggression, but also to build a strong, democratic and sustainable state and integrate it more closely with Europe. Estonia’s goal is to play the fullest possible role in this process – both as a state and through the involvement of our companies.”
The Foreign Minister added that Estonia’s aim is to bring as many heads of state and government and global partners as possible to Tallinn in order to discuss both the short- and long-term support for Ukraine. According to Tsahkna, Estonia will also involve its Nordic-Baltic (NB8) partners in preparing and organising the 2027 Recovery Conference.
“The NB8 countries are among Ukraine’s largest supporters, and involving like-minded partners will help increase the conference’s international visibility and mobilise the broadest possible support for Ukraine,” the Foreign Minister said.
