On the morning of 24 July, Russia launched an extensive missile assault on several Ukrainian cities. The strikes on Kyiv have so far killed at least six people and injured dozens more. In Sloviansk, five people were killed and nine wounded in the bombardment. A Russian missile also hit Latvia’s honorary consulate in Sloviansk.
“Russia continues to show a complete disregard for human life, intensifying its attacks on Ukrainian cities, civilian infrastructure, and residents,” Foreign Minister Tsahkna said. “In recent weeks, hundreds of Ukrainians have lost their lives, their loved ones, or their homes. Today’s strike on the Latvian honorary consulate is yet another example of Russia violating international diplomatic norms. Such actions must be met with the strictest accountability. Every victim deserves justice.”
According to the minister, Russia will not change its behavior unless it is compelled to do so. “This is why pressure on Russia must increase further, and its international isolation must remain. Russia must feel the real cost of its aggression. Estonia stands firmly with Ukraine and our allies,” Tsahkna added.
