On 3–4 September, Undersecretary for Political Affairs Martin Roger took part in a seminar bringing together the leaderships of the Estonian and Latvian foreign ministries. The discussions focused on
bilateral cooperation, shared foreign policy objectives and regional security.
According to Roger, Estonia and Latvia, as close neighbours and Allies, are united by common interests and goals. Estonia and Latvia stand firmly with Ukraine, work to increase the cost of Russia’s aggression, and are strengthening regional security together. In the current security environment, close cooperation between the two countries and a united voice in Europe are more important than ever.
Cooperation between Estonia and Latvia is close and wide-ranging, extending from security and defence to the economy and cross-border cooperation. During the seminar, the leaderships of the two foreign ministries visited the 2nd Infantry Brigade at Kuperjanov Barracks, where representatives of the Kuperjanov Infantry Battalion gave them an overview of the unit’s activities and tasks.
The joint seminar of the Estonian and Latvian foreign ministry directorates was held for the eleventh time.
