Comment by Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna on air strikes in Ukraine and drone strike on Kyiv, where the apartment building of Estonian Ambassador Annely Kolk was hit.

“In yet another attack on Kyiv early yesterday morning, a Russian drone hit the apartment building where Estonian Ambassador to Ukraine Annely Kolk lives. She and her husband were unharmed but the attack is another proof that no one is safe in Ukraine as long as Russia continues its aggression, deliberately targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.

For example, in September alone, Russia launched more than 1300 drones to hit Ukraine. In October, attacks intensified even further. Strikes are often carried out at night. The aim of this nearly 1000-day terror campaign is to sow fear and destruction.

It must end and the aggressor must pay for all the horrors it has caused.

Intensified air strikes are yet another reminder that Ukraine must be given comprehensive assistance, including air defence, long-range missiles, weapons systems, and ammunition, which they need to defend their country and their people. We cannot have red lines in fighting against terror and for freedom and security.”
