Today, 29 September, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said that the arson attack on Milrem Robotics proves that Estonia is a challenging target for Russia’s acts of sabotage because our security agencies act decisively and effectively in ensuring national security. The Foreign Minister said that Estonia would summon the Russian Chargé d’affaires today.
“Based on the information collected by the Internal Security Service, we can say with certainty today that the arson attack against the defence company Milrem Robotics on the night of 14 to 15 August was an act of sabotage ordered by the special services of the Russian Federation. Russia is continuing its campaign of sabotage against Europe to intimidate it and force it to reduce its support for Ukraine and pressure on Russia. This, in turn, is proof of Moscow’s growing desperation because it has failed to achieve the aims of its aggression against Ukraine,” the Foreign Minister said.
“Estonia is a challenging target for Russia’s attacks of this kind. Our security agencies work effectively, several similar acts of sabotage have been prevented, and the perpetrators of the arson attack against Milrem Robotics have been arrested and they no longer pose a threat to Estonia,” Tsahkna added.
The Foreign Minister said that Europe will not be subject to intimidation; it will remain united and will not let Russia achieve its goals.
“Estonia with its Allies and partners will continue to pressure Russia by ramping up sanctions and restricting the travel of Russian citizens to Europe, and our strong support for Ukraine will continue,” the Foreign Minister said. “We are also constantly boosting our readiness and internal security to be able to successfully counter such activities by Russia in the future.”
“Estonia and its Allies retain the full right to respond to this kind of hostile, irresponsible and dangerous activity,” the Foreign Minister added.
